Where they started, and why.
A family dental practice established in 2014, with a strong local reputation, a modern facility and almost no organic visibility to match either. Named client withheld.
The practice had been open since 2014 and had the reputation to show for it — comprehensive care from routine dentistry through to Invisalign, cosmetic work and implants. What it did not have was a domain anyone had heard of. It started this campaign on a young site at DR 13 with negligible organic traffic, in a local market where the competition had years of head start. The gap was not quality of service; it was that nobody searching for a dentist could find them.
Two phases, in a deliberate order. Local practices usually get one or the other — citations without authority, or PR without local relevance — and neither moves the needle alone. We built the authority first so there was a domain worth citing, then ran digital PR on top of it so the practice had something newsworthy to be cited for. The second phase only works because the first one happened.
What we actually did.
Phase one — authority from health and local sources
The first placements targeted DA 50+ health and dental publications, medical titles and local business directories. On a DR 13 domain the priority is a floor of credible referring domains rather than a headline placement, because a single high-profile link into a site with no foundation converts to very little.
Phase two — digital PR into national press
Once the foundation existed, expert commentary on dental and oral health opened doors that were closed at the start. Coverage landed on the New York Post (DR 91), BuzzFeed (DR 91), NewsBreak (DR 82) and Eat This, Not That! (DR 82) — the highest-profile placements in this collection, and unreachable from where the domain began.
Local citations alongside the authority work
Running throughout: health and local citations aimed at local search visibility across the practice's service areas. National coverage builds the domain; consistent local signals are what turn that into people finding the practice when they search for a dentist near them.
Publications that carried them.

From invisible to the strongest domain in a local market.
Monthly organic traffic grew from roughly 1,000 to more than 36,000 over thirteen months — a 3,500% increase, with month-over-month growth rather than a single spike. Domain Rating moved from 13 to 25, a 92% gain that matters more at the bottom of the scale than the same jump would higher up: it is the difference between a domain search engines largely ignore and one they treat as a legitimate source. 108 placements were built across the campaign, and the practice reports increased patient enquiries alongside the visibility.
